Hello everybody, I contacted Studiainitalia because I decided to study an Italian course in Florence. My stay there was 1 month. I had never been outside Spain on my own before, and the agency gave me all the guidance I needed to know how to organise myself when I was there. An unforgettable experience! It was almost like a fantasy. I had never cried with emotion in my life until I set foot in Florence. Both the Italian and the painting classes were spectacular. I learned a lot, not only about the language but also about the culture. The teachers are great, fun, always there for you and it’s impossible not to get attached to them. What can I say about the city and the region… it’s a real adventure for the soul. Listening to O mio babbino caro from the Ponte Vecchio or marvelling at the highest tower in Florence is priceless. There is nothing like getting lost in the city looking for streets less frequented by tourists and discovering unexpected stops along the way. Via Porta Rossa certainly leaves me with many memories. The flat was a joy, right in the centre, with a very nice landlady and other flatmates with whom I shared the experience. I made many friends and always spoke Italian with everyone. We went on our own tours of Tuscany and I even went to a Puccini opera in Torre del Lago. It is difficult for me to sum up in words what this trip has meant to me. I can only say that I will be back very soon and that is for sure!

Although the purpose of my week-long stay in Florence was the art history courses, I supplemented the morning hours with introductory Italian language classes. I want to thank StudiainItalia for all the information and help they’ve extended. In fact, Federica was especially helpful with visa paperwork and ironed out some visa process issues as well. Lara too kept in touch to keep my abreast of all back-end details I would need. I didn’t know what to expect when I signed up for this course but it turned out to be such a great experience. I studied at school in Elleny Nottas’ class, for four weeks. I started off from Level A1, completed Level A2 and did one week of B1. At the school, the director and Helen as well as Elleny ensured that we were kept in the loop of all events and activities, and were always approachable. Elleny ensured that everyone in the class was keeping up and is a really patient teacher. I really really enjoyed myself. Another aspect was that as a student at you could also sign up for cooking classes, art tours, etc at a nominal fee.

The course, despite being intensive, is very enjoyable thanks to the teachers (Gino and Benedetta in my case), the very attentive secretarial staff, as well as the people at StudiainItalia who take care of everything before, during and after the stay. The accommodation at Mrs Raffaela’s house was very good, just two minutes from the school and in a very lively street both day and night, and the guided tours in the afternoons with Rima were a real delight… and well, what can I say about Florence and its wonders that hasn’t already been said… Without doubt an experience to repeat!

The Italian course was very well organised, with flexibility to change levels according to progression. In three weeks I found myself able to speak Italian fluently. The teachers are excellent professionals. I would especially like to highlight the work of the charming Rima, the school’s guide, who showed us around Florence with great charm. I had problems with the first accommodation and the agency took care of finding me another one, a nice experience.

I feel satisfied with my one month participation in the Italian course taken in Florence in “Studia in Italia” school.Florence is an amazing city, small enough to easily walk from my residence to the school every day while observing and enjoying the city history and beauty.The school is located in a very nice square with many action: restaurants, cafes, stores, church, and everyday different fair. I enjoyed the pauses going downstairs to interact with the outside environment.One month is a short period of time to learn a language, however, I returned home with the basic knowledge to enter into Italian with no fear at all. During the classes we learned the basic, regular and some irregular verbs; present and past, many local phases, adjectives, doing also a lot of conversation and interaction.Benedetta was my teacher, very knowledgeable with highly developed teaching skills. The admin people was all the time very helpful, supporting the students in many aspects. It was all very good, I really enjoyed the experience. The teachers were very nice and I learnt the basics of the language as I didn’t know anything. One thing I would add is that even if you don’t know the language you should also do an entrance exam because being Spanish, I already knew many of the things we did in class… On the other hand, the family was very nice but I didn’t speak Italian with them, I expected to speak more… But overall a great experience that I will repeat if I can.

I found the course very productive, the classes are of a very high level and I think that the four skills necessary to acquire the level required by the European community are practised. Regarding the accommodation, I have to say that I had some doubts because I was the tenant of a couple who were in their seventies, it is true that I was going with some prejudices that in the end have been dismantled, the couple have been very nice to me, they have treated me very well, and I recommend it to everyone who wants to go to Florence, in case they need accommodation.

I didn’t have enough time… by this I mean that two weeks I think was not enough time for someone with my level (basic) but the truth is that as an experience, it was great. The school is very well located, the teachers are very friendly, kind, patient… and I signed up for almost all the guided visits to churches, museums, etc. so I was able to practice a lot listening to Italian, one night we went to the cinema and I was quite happy with everything I could understand from the dialogues :). I loved the residence, my room was big, comfortable, everything was quite clean…the landlady was very kind and friendly, Neapolitan…although there was a cat that, despite being very affectionate, gave me a lot of allergies… (I’ve had cats and dogs, I love them! and allergies don’t develop with all animals, only with some…but unfortunately with this one and I couldn’t enjoy the pet :P)The only bad thing is that I couldn’t share with my flatmate, Japanese, because we had different class schedules and also the cultures are very different, he was a bit shy…the landlady called him the “giapoghost” because he didn’t feel at home. Otherwise everything was great, the city was lovely…the weather was a bit crazy those two weeks (spring at last), but I really want to continue studying and learning to go at least once a year and practice it better…Thanks for everything, I won’t hesitate to recommend you!

The course was perfect, it was a great experience. I improved my Italian a lot, I learnt a lot about life in Florence and I fell in love with the city!!! I miss it a lot hehehe The accommodation was great, the family was very nice and very friendly!!! my room was very, very big!!! I don’t think I have given any reason for complaint and if so, I didn’t mean to. The house was in Via Solferino and it is a very quiet street with trees, which I loved, and the school was also perfect. The teachers, both Gino and Cristiano, were very good, I learnt a lot of grammar and vocabulary, they left us films and books in Italian to practise at home. The secretary’s office, with Helen, helps you with everything you need! everyone is very friendly, I made many friends from all over the world, I’m very happy with everything, and finally our cultural guide in the city, Rima, a real professional. I learnt so much about the history and culture of Florence that we all gave her a small gift as a thank you. My conclusion has been very positive and I would like to thank you personally for everything being so well organised, thank you for everything Federica and sorry again for my sudden departure from Florence, but things happen when you least expect it, if you need any more information ask me, I will be delighted.
