Turin is a vibrant and beautiful city with a lot to offer, even during summer.
Turin is one of the more prominent cities of Italy but is relatively undiscovered by tourists. It possesses classical elegance as the first capital of the republic of Italy, yet it also embodies the progressive and modern aspects of Italian culture. This dichotomy keeps Turin vibrant. Here are some of the top festivals and exhibitions that you can enjoy in Turin during the month of August 2016.
TODAYS FESTIVAL 2016
From 26/08/2016 to 28/08/2016
Todays aims to capture and enhance all the influences possible between the various contemporary forms: not just major concerts but also more intimate occasions, evenings for dancing, meetings, conferences and creative workshops dedicated to those who create music and those who listen to it. In three days of intense programming, Todays offers a true journey into today’s music, from the afternoon into the night.
A perfect combination, epitomising the image of Torino where contemporary art blends in perfectly with the spaces created by the court architects of the House of Savoy: because Torino is the capital of the contemporary but also of Baroque. “Art of Courts” is an outdoor exhibition taking a route through the courtyards and gardens of seven major palaces in the city where there will be great site-specific installations and sculptures interacting with the beauty of Torino’s baroque architecture to the surprising benefit of both. Acknowledged masters have been called, leading exponents of Italian research already established internationally and young emerging artists of particular interest.
A selection of works by Italian artist Mario Merz profoundly linked to the subject of nature: paintings, installations and drawings in which thoughts focus more on the poetic and social tale than on the earth as creator of life.
