Gilding course in Florence<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Learn gilding and goldleafing with the use of gold on wooden objects. Our courses are taught by professionals working in collaboration with the Uffizi Gallery <\/em>and other Italian museums. The workshop is located in the city center of Florence.<\/p>\n

Courses are held in small groups. Our students mostly have a technical or professional background. No exams and no specific qualifications are required.<\/p>\n

Classes are both in the morning and in the afternoon.<\/p>\n

At the end of the course you will receive a final certificate.<\/p>\n

The basic short gilding course<\/strong> is perfect if you wish to approach gilding for the first time. You will learn:<\/p>\n

how to apply the gesso and the bole.<\/p>\n

You will gild your own object, burnish and antique it.<\/p>\n

After that you will apply a special lacquer.<\/p>\n

The most complete gilding course<\/strong> firstly includes the theoretical introduction.<\/p>\n

Secondly, you will learn how to consolidate wood with the use of animal glues and other substances.<\/p>\n

You will learn the disinfestation process and the cleaning process.<\/p>\n

You will use antique lacquers, you will do the filling and the integration techniques with gold or metal leaf with water and mordant gildings.<\/p>\n

You will also learn how to use pastiglia <\/em>and the ageing process.<\/p>\n

Our Florence workshop offers gilding and restoration of gilded works of art courses.<\/p>\n

  • You can book a 80, 160, 240 or 320 hour course and spread your hours along the number of weeks of your choice attending from 4 up to 8 hours a day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • Courses are very practical, the basic water gilding programme includes an Introduction to the art of gilding, including the presentation of materials and decorative techniques and techniques of antiquing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • This course is in groups and it is taught in Italian or in English<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
