Hay muchas leyendas sobre el origen del panettone. El primer registro del panettone como dulce navide\u00f1o tradicional milan\u00e9s es un art\u00edculo del escritor iluminista Pietro Verri en el siglo XVIII, que lo llama pane di tono (\u2018pan grande\u2019).<strong>Panforte<\/strong> (Toscana): originalmente de Siena, se hace con fruta escarchada, miel, az\u00facar y especias. Su origen puede ubicarse en el siglo XIII: cuenta su historia que el Panforte fue utilizado como moneda para pagar los impuestos del monasterio, por ser un dulce muy valorado, no s\u00f3lo por la riqueza y abundancia de los ingredientes que se utilizan, sino tambi\u00e9n por su delicado sabor.<strong>Pangiallo<\/strong> (Lazio): una mezcla de frutos secos y fruta confitada con harina, miel y chocolate.
