Engraving is a technique used to embellish and decorate all types of items. It is made without the use of machines, just manually with burins and chisels.

Engraving is performed on flat or curved sheets, following a previously traced design. It is also possible to create monograms and signet rings for sealing wax, steel dyes for stamping medals and other decorations.

Engraving is also used to prepare the items for the application of enamels, cloisonné or champlevé.

Engraving can be also used in different ways on different materials. It serves for creating graffiti clichés on copper and other metals. It is also used for creating dedications, monograms and coats of arms.

Our specialization course in engraving lasts 12 weeks (8 hours per week). The programme includes:

  • Preparation and proper use of the working tools.
  • Behaviour of metals and their characteristics during the engraving process.

Our jewellery school in Florence offers a specialization engraving course all year. The school is located in the historic city centre. It is active in jewellery making and jewellery design since 1998.

 

The school is also involved in innovation projects. Teachers are great at communicating and transmitting their know-how, after many years of educational and professional experience.

 

They will help you to orient your choices, firstly on the basis of your inclination towards one technique and, secondly, on the basis of the market changings.
