Ferragosto is an Italian public holiday celebrated on 15 August, coinciding with the major Catholic feast of the Assumption of Mary. It is also the summer vacation period around mid-August, which may last a weekend (Ponte di Ferragosto) or most of the month. The Italian language school in Salerno offers a special summer program during the week of Ferragosto from 13th to 19th August 2017.
