I really enjoyed my first ever Italian course! I had valuable support during the planning stages, selecting suitable dates and a city, finding a host/accommodation for my specifications and sorting out transport from the airport. The communication was prompt and helpful. My host was kind, generous and helpful. She answered my questions before I flew to Italy and was helpful in sorting out many things while I was there, including navigating the city, sorting out laundry and other activities. The course which was run by A door to Italy had very experienced and dedicated staff who facilitated our learning using a range of interactive methods. Overall my experience was immensely positive! Grazie mille a tutti!

I had a great week at school. The teachers were very interesting and helpful. I only have one recommendation: a word, when necessary, that is very useful for students when nothing happens.
Thank you and good luck.

Hello, my stay in Genoa has been one of the experiences I have enjoyed the most this year. I had already been in Sicily with the same school and I knew the method. That’s why I came again. My course lasted three weeks and I learnt a lot. The academy has magnificent facilities, the teachers are lovely people, a very young and open team with a passion for what they do. And they transmit that. The atmosphere in the classes is friendly and relaxed and you practise many communicative situations, which you use as soon as you leave the class, so it couldn’t be more practical. The school also offers cultural activities every day and it is also an opportunity not only to get to know the Italian culture and the city, but also to meet other students from the school who you wouldn’t otherwise meet. And this is very interesting, because there are people from all over the world. Many thanks to Federica for arranging both individual lessons and accommodation for me so efficiently. I really appreciate the fact that I was put in a group with a higher level than the one I got in the placement test. This allowed me to learn much more than being in a group with a lower level and during the lessons a very special atmosphere was created with the other students. It was a very nice experience. People who coincide at one moment and suddenly there is magic. The stay in Donella’s house was very pleasant, very hospitable and very accustomed to the students learning the language, with infinite patience. I remember you with affection Francisca, Stefano, Sara, Gianlucca, Marta. Best regards and see you soon

Hi, the facilities are very good and so are the teachers, especially Diego. In order to help them improve I recommend not spending so much time on exercises in class, most students need to be given quick tools to master the language. On the other hand, I think it is necessary to make an evaluation of each student at the beginning in order to create courses with students of similar level.

The stay in Genoa was wonderful, the flat was very good and the course was very didactic, I learned a lot, thank you very much for everything.

I spent two weeks taking a course in Italian language and culture. I enjoyed it very much. The teachers, my classmates and even the activities I participated in. I will leave Genoa with fond memories and some new friends. Thank you. Anna

Good morning, like another year with you, the experience has been very good, the contact with Barbara, the owner of the accommodation, has been close and facilitating. The location of the flat is very good and the distance to the school is quite short. The only downside is that the flat was a bit dusty, but that’s a minor problem. I am very happy with the attention of Barbara, who has provided me with tourist information from the first moment and we have kept in touch during my stay. She really is a very friendly and approachable person and the experience with the school has also been great. In this school, oral skills are encouraged, which is very much appreciated because you can make the most of your Italian stay. We have photocopied material and grammar adapted to the level, but above all we encourage the learning of vocabulary and different communicative situations, the school staff is young and the classes are small (in my class there were 3 of us) so participation is very high. The extracurricular outings were also good. The school provides a guidebook and even a student card with which you can get discounts in a few establishments (bars, restaurants, gyms, discounts on the entrance to the Aquarium and clothes shops) Genoa is huge and has a lot to see but I have the feeling that it doesn’t sell itself as well as it should. I recommend the websites or facebook pages “Genova eventi e cultura”, “Genova turismo”, “Cosa facciamo oggi a Genova” to get an idea of what to do during your stay, as the two tourist offices I visited (in Via Garibaldi and in Porto Antico) didn’t give me much information, life in Genoa is quiet (more for families and retired people than for young people in August) and the communication network is not very good. I think it is important for the student who arrives in the city to know that to move around it is important to know some of the buses, so a link to the website is essential. The metro closes very early and taxis are very expensive. My experience with Trenitalia has not been good either (as the information panels and loudspeaker warnings in case of problems, delays, train cancellations or so on do not exist) so I recommend that, as far as possible, you explain to students travelling to Genoa that if they go to Cinqueterre for example, they should have a timetable of trains and stops beforehand to make it easier for them to find out about possible problems / information gaps. On the other hand, as far as cultural activities are concerned, for two weeks, the Musei Card (50 eur) did not seem to me to be necessary. There is the option of 24h and 48h Museums and the cost is easily amortised. I would recommend 100℅ to visit the Rolli of Via Garibaldi, the Palazzo Reale and walk along Corso Italia to Bocadasse, Nervi (village and walk along the sea side), Camogli and the Cinqueterre. If you need any further feedback for future students, I would be happy to give my opinion. You are a great, effective and facilitating team and I recommend you to everyone I know. I am sure that I will come back again in the future when I travel to Italy again.best regards, Lara and Federica, and good week, Maite
