Learn Italian filigree!
This professional filigree course is aimed at those who would like to learn to create filigrees using the artisan’s ancient techniques and entirely by hand. Each filigree element is welded to the others by hand on their points of contact, allowing to obtain a very delicate, unique and organic shape.
Each trainee, personally followed by the master-craftsman, acquires skills through the creation of a filigree element, realized in silver and entirely by hand.
Courses for beginners last at least 2 weeks (20 hours per week).
Courses start every Monday (except during August); course materials are included.
The programme includes, among others, the following sections:
- Introduction to ancient tools and materials
- Welding techniques with gas flame and microflame (for beginners)
- Realization of twisted wires and other special wires
- Assembly of filigree elements
- Filigree modelling
Filigree course
Our course in Florence is organized by a master craftsman in his own workshop. He uses ancient and historical goldsmith techniques. You are welcome into his wonderful contemporary and new exhibition work space. You will learn the ancient skills of goldsmithery.
This is a unique opportunity to experience these ancient jewellery techniques.
During the filigree course, you will have the opportunity to live and learn this unique approach to jewellery. This is a one-to-one course, where the artisan works with one student at a time to completely focus on their individual development and learning.
This course can be taught either in Italian or in English.
