Our oil painting restoration courses in Italy are not held in a school but in the restorer’s workshop. A place where you will learn quickly, followed in each step of your learning.
The course is available for beginners or advanced students. You can book sets of 24 hours.
The basic programme includes:
• Aspects of the concept of restoration
• Study of the nature of the painting
• Practice in preparation of the supports in accordance with traditional techniques (canvas and board)
• Consolidation techniques
• Re-framing techniques
• Techniques of pictorial integration
Courses are one to one and held in Italian; since lessons are individual, the programme can be adapted to your own requests. You can also apply for an interpretation service.
Our painting restoration course is held in a real workshop “bottega” in Florence.
Do you know why we do not offer this course in a restoration school? Because the bottega is the most advisable place for a quick, practical and immersive learning, even if you are a beginner!
The workshop is located in the historic centre of Florence.

We can provide you with accommodation near your school for the whole duration of your course in Italy. We offer the following types of accommodation:
- Single rooms, with kitchen use, in shared flats (generally 2-3 persons);
- Double rooms, with kitchen use, for couples and people travelling together;
- Single rooms in host families, with meals;
Accommodation is available from Sunday to Sunday.
• Costs of water, gas and electricity are included. Towels and sheets are provided.
• Flats are shared with Italians, generally between 2 or 3 persons.
• Accommodations are assigned only 20 days before your arrival in Italy.
• Sometimes it is possible to request a private bathroom (supplement required).

The instructor was highly competent and patient, explained all techniques clearly, and covered a multitude of techniques from gilding, to sculpting, color blending, working with solvents, patching, and filling. For me, the experience that this great course left me with was incredibly good and excellent, even if I couldn’t express it in just 2 words! I entered as a beginner to the Restoration course (because I knew nothing, nothing), and I came out with a great amount of learning, both practical and theoretical. The course is super complete. I had planned to take only the first few hours, but there was so much to learn from Elena Giannetti’s classes that I decided to expand my lessons to much more, and I would have expanded them again if I had more time: a magnificent teacher, her way of teaching, her patience, her dedication, her talent and above all the great person that she is made this course the most pleasant part of my stay in Florence! Bom dia,Há uma semana, participei de um curso de restauração de pinturas em Florença, na oficina de Elena Giannetti. A experiência foi ótima, pois combinamos teoria e prática. Embora o curso de duas semanas seja um pouco curto para estudar as diferentes técnicas, foi suficiente para conhecer os procedimentos básicos de restauração. Gostaria que o curso tivesse sido mais prático e não tão teórico, mas, de qualquer forma, a experiência foi inesquecível.Muito obrigada

Although the two-week course is a bit short to study the different techniques, it was enough to get to know the basic restoration procedures.
