Our workshop offers from one up to two or more weeks of wood inlay courses.

The programme explores:

• The study of the most commonly used types of wood

• The working tools, their sharpening and correct employment

• Application of ornate and decorative designs and the preparation of the wood for decoration

• Indian and geometric inlays

This course is individual and lessons are taught in Italian. A translation service is available.

Wood inlay course

 

Our wood inlay course is held in an artisan workshop in Florence.

 

Wood inlay consists in making images: landscapes, portraits, or decorations using very thin sheets of kinds of wood of different colours or shades.

Wood inlay developed in Italy until reaching its maturity during the Renaissance. Its diffusion has involved a production geographically limited to few Italian regions, such as Campania and Tuscany.

 

The artisan organizes wood inlay courses for beginners, intermediate or advanced levels. Courses are open all year and are one to one. It’ll be just you and the craftsman.

  • Single rooms, with kitchen use, in shared flats (generally 2-3 persons);
  • Double rooms, with kitchen use, for couples and people travelling together;
  • Single rooms in host families, with meals;

Accommodation is available from Sunday to Sunday.

 

• Costs of water, gas and electricity are included. Towels and sheets are provided.

• Flats are shared with Italians, generally between 2 or 3 persons.

• Accommodations are assigned only 20 days before your arrival in Italy.

• Sometimes it is possible to request a private bathroom (supplement required).
