Do you want to study fabrics restoration in Italy?

 

Join our course and you will start with the Analysis of the carpet, its origins, classification, age and evaluation of the knotted rug, fabric work and Kilim, with an approach to the knowledge of the rug.

You will learn the processing phase: conservation – preservation – recovery of the object through careful analysis of the typology and study of the restoration suitable for the object.

You will also learn the Analysis and the intervention: restoration plan.

Washing with demineralised water or steam, fixing with nets and heat-sealed cloths to protect the shabby parts.

Dyeing of wools: practice used, whether for cottons or wools, for restoration with natural dyes.

You will learn, step by step, the Conservative restoration phases:

  • Fringes and edges, fringe or head fastening with warp and weft fastening.
  • Lateral edge fixing with reconstruction of the same.
  • Reconstruction of carpet corners and staples by reweaving weft and warps.
  • Reconstruction of holes on frame with weft and warp reweaving.

The course is held in a real workshop “bottega” in Florence.

Do you know why we do not offer this course in a restoration school? Because the bottega is the most advisable place for a quick, practical and immersive learning, even if you are a beginner!

The workshop is held it is located in the historic centre of Florence.
